Lesz-e globális áttörés a kis moduláris reaktorok telepítésében a nagy számítási központok folyamatosan növekvő villamos energia felhasználása miatt?

Will there be a Global Breakthorugh in the Deployment of Small Modular Reactors due to the continuously increasing Electricity Consumption of Large Computing Centres?

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications is rapidly expanding, and this has led to an increased demand for operating large computer server parks. However, running modern AI programs requires a lot of electricity, therefore new large consumers have gradually appeared on the electricity market. The nuclear energy industry has quickly recognized the opportunities that the emergence of these new big consumers can offer to the industry, and its representatives emphasize that this new demand should be met by installing small modular reactors (SMRs). The article first presents the growth dynamics of energy consumption by large data centres, then describes the SMR types that suppliers promise to be ready for deployment before 2035. After describing current market trends and popular SMR types, the article discusses the most important SMR developments and deployment plans around the world. Finally, based on relevant international professional analyses, it is discussed whether a breakthrough in the deployment of certain SMR types can be expected in the next decade.
